“I believe teaching an instrument should spark curiosity and joy first, then you can establish discipline. With this approach, the experience doesn’t always feel like work–it feels like progress and growth.”

— Jessica King

Student Offerings

  • Online Lessons

Can you really learn violin online? 2020 has definitively convinced us all that we are capable of so much from the comfort of our own homes. Violin lessons are no exception–with Suzuki Method the parent, child, and teacher contribute equally to the child’s success. Due to this strategy there is little difference between in person and online teaching.

  • In person Lessons

Learning an instrument in person has been the standard since before video conferencing was invented! The studio has either an outdoor or indoor space with HVAC ventilation. Safety precautions such as masking, surface cleaning, hand sanitizer, and vaccination are followed.

  • Performance Opportunities

Performing on stage is an essential part of learning an instrument: it builds confidence and helps reduce performance anxiety. Students have two concerts a year, multiple community outreach performances, and mini masterclasses throughout the year.

I cannot say enough good things about Jessica King. She pours love and mastery into each and every student. She is thoroughly ready to prepare students for successful conservatory study. But is also confidently prepared in styles outside the classical canon. She pro-actively seeks opportunities for students to have new musical experiences and lays the groundwork for those moments to contribute positively to growth. And on top of it all, she is kind. Deeply, thoroughly kind. The combination of all she has to offer students and their families is unprecedented.

Jessica has fostered a love of music and the violin in our daughter that she will carry with her as she grows older. I highly recommend her as a teacher!
— D.C.
Jessica has been sharing her boundless musical enthusiasm with our daughter for ten years of violin lessons. Jessica loves music, and is always cheerful and patient. She meets our child at her level, at age 5 or at age 15, and gently guides her through difficult patches, and celebrates her successes with exuberance. There is also an underlying rigor and depth to Jessica’s understanding of music and the work necessary to move forward. While our daughter may not be choosing a career in music, it has been rewarding to see her take on an instrument that is difficult to master and build her skill and confidence over time and through her childhood. Adults sometimes talk about their dusty old childhood music teacher, that is not how Jessica will be remembered in our daughter’s life.

Where words fail, music speaks.

Jessica’s students performing a trio arrangement of “O Hannukah” during the COVID-19 shutdown. Each student recorded their part separately from their own homes and the video was edited together. Bravo to these talented students!

Beautiful tone, beautiful heart.
